Triple Play
I was talking with my friend Laura recently about food. This happens frequently. Laura is a beautiful woman, a very creative soul and an excellent cook. We were discussing some of our favorite flavors, what she termed the "Holy Trinity" of food: cardamom, pistachio and rosewater. Each flavor by itself is a delight, a little piece of culinary joy. Together, they enhance each other's flavors that makes the end product even better than the components. I don't remember exactly what was said, but I believe that it was Laura who thought it might be fun to have a contest to see who can come up with the best combination of the three. I thought, a contest would be kind of a pain, and involve prizes that would be difficult to ship. A regular old blogging event, though, with a roundup at the end, might be a lot of fun and give us some very interesting results. Plus, a blogging event would allow us to repeat the challenge with different combinations of flavors.
So without further ado, here are the rules.
Prepare a dish that includes ALL THREE of the key ingredients - in this case, pistachios, rosewater and cardamom.
Blog about your dish, preferably including the recipe, between the date the ingredients are announced and the last day of the month - in this case, the 31st of May.
Email me using my brand-spanking-new dedicated Fearless Kitchen email (fearlesskitchen@gmail.com) to let me know you want in. Your email must contain:
Your name, or whatever name you're choosing to use.
Your approximate location. I don't need your home address or what room you're in. If you have map coordinates you can go ahead and list them, but I will ignore them. City, state/province and country will suffice.
The name of your blog.
A link to the post you're submitting.
A photo of your dish is nice, but not mandatory.
If you don't have a blog, you can still get involved. Just let me know, and write up a blurb about your dish instead of posting a link. But you should really think about starting a blog of your own. It's fun. :)
